01[ About the route ]
Description
The most practical one-day Corpus route in Granada: watch the Tarasca in the city centre, stop for tapas near Reyes Católicos, and finish at the Almanjáyar fairground, with a Thursday procession variant.
This route is built around one specific question: how to experience Granada Corpus 2026 in a single day without spreading yourself too thin. The answer is not trying to see everything. It is linking three moments that genuinely work together: the Tarasca or the procession in the city centre, a tapas stop close to the main axis, and a late-afternoon or evening finish at the Almanjáyar fairground. That gives you tradition, street life, food and fair atmosphere without pointless backtracking or turning the day into a race.
On Wednesday 3 June 2026, the Tarasca starts at 12:00 from the City Hall area. This is the strongest starting point if you want the most popular side of Corpus week. If you prefer the more solemn version, use the same central stretch as the lead-in to Thursday 4 June, when the Corpus Christi procession begins at 10:15 in the historic centre.

Plaza del Carmen, beside Granada City Hall
45 min
Wednesday 3 June: arrive between 11:00 and 11:30. Thursday 4 June variant: be in the centre before 10:00.
If your priority is to watch the Tarasca properly, do not arrive right at 12:00. By then the crowd will already be in place.
02
Reyes Católicos, Puerta Real and the central axis
After the start, the route follows the most practical Corpus axis in the centre: Reyes Católicos, Puerta Real, Gran Vía and nearby streets. It works well for following the Tarasca without locking yourself into one fixed spot, and on Thursday it also makes sense for watching the atmosphere around the procession, the Cathedral and the main historic-centre streets.

Reyes Católicos, Puerta Real and the Cathedral area
45 min
Useful window: 12:00–13:00 for Tarasca day; 10:15–12:00 for the procession variant.
Move calmly and avoid trying to cut across the main axis at the last minute. During Corpus, the difference between watching and rushing is huge.
03
Tapas in the centre — Navas, Plaza Nueva, Elvira or Romanilla
After the parade or procession, this route calls for a tapas stop without leaving the centre. The most practical areas are Calle Navas for the easiest option, Plaza Nueva if you want to stay in the middle of the flow, Calle Elvira for a more casual stop, and Romanilla or the Cathedral area if you want to keep the route tighter. You do not need to pin the plan to one specific bar. The key is choosing the right zone and not stretching lunch too far.

Historic centre: Calle Navas, Plaza Nueva, Calle Elvira, Romanilla and Puerta Real
1h 30min
Flexible budget depending on the area and number of stops
Tarasca version: 13:00–15:00. Procession version: 13:30–15:00 or a shorter stop before heading to the fairground.
If you want to enjoy the fairground afterwards, keep tapas to two or three quick stops and do not turn it into a full separate route.
04
Transfer to the Almanjáyar fairground
This is where the route changes pace and geography. From the centre, the practical move is to head to the fairground by bus, metro or taxi. In 2026 it is worth checking transport the same day: as of 29 May there are partial Metro de Granada stoppages with 60% minimum service on several Corpus dates, so the metro may still be useful, but it should not be your only plan without checking live service.

45 min
Bus or metro at the current fare; taxi depending on demand and time
Leaving the centre between 18:00 and 19:00 is usually the best balance if you want atmosphere without the latest-night peak.
Do not treat the walk from the centre to the fairground as part of the plan. It eats time and does not improve the day.
05
Corpus Fair — casetas, music and the end of the day
The natural ending point is Granada’s Corpus Fair, with free-entry casetas, rides and an atmosphere that shifts a lot between late afternoon and night. If you are going with family, the best window is the afternoon. If you are with friends or as a couple and want more energy, stay until the fairground properly fills up. The point is not to see everything. It is to finish the day with the part of Corpus that does not happen in the historic centre.

Almanjáyar fairground
3h
Free entry; food, drinks and rides not included
Recommended window: 19:00–22:30 for a balanced plan; later if you want the full fair-at-night atmosphere.
Sunset is the best slot if you want casetas, a walk and some fairground atmosphere without staying out until the very end.

Local tips
Choose the day first: Tarasca or procession
The Wednesday 3 June 2026 version is more visual, more festive and more playful. The Thursday 4 June 2026 version is more solemn and traditional. The route structure works for both, but the tone changes a lot.
Keep tapas under control
This route works because it combines three plans in one day. If you turn the centre into a bar marathon, you will reach the fairground late and tired. Fewer, better stops work much better.
Check transport before heading to the fairground
During Corpus 2026 there is official information about partial metro stoppages on several dates, with 60% minimum service. The bus remains a good fallback, and taxis become more useful once the evening starts.
With children, move everything earlier
If you do this route as a family, try to complete the city-centre part before the hottest stretch and reach the fairground early. The day gets much easier if you do not arrive once it is already fully nighttime.
04[ Practical information ]
Route information
Starting point
Start at Plaza del Carmen for the Wednesday 3 June 2026 Tarasca version. If you choose the Thursday variant, use the Cathedral and Plaza del Carmen area as your entry point into the historic centre.
Ending point
Almanjáyar fairground. From there, your return depends on the time and the transport running that night.
How to get there
The first part of the route is done on foot through the historic centre. For the move to the fairground, the most practical options are bus, metro if service is running properly, or taxi. Avoid taking the car into the centre if you plan to continue on to the fair later.
Estimated budget
Around 20 to 40 euros per person if you stop for tapas in the centre and do a short or medium fairground visit. It climbs if you have a full dinner, several rounds of drinks or lots of rides.
Who is it for
Ideal for visitors coming to Granada during Corpus week who want a clear plan instead of burning half a day deciding on the spot. It works well for couples, groups of friends and first-time visitors during that week.
Accessibility
The city-centre stretch is manageable on foot, but the crowds make movement much harder during the Tarasca and the procession. The main accessibility limit is the density of people and the later transfer to the fairground rather than the walking distance itself.
Best time to visit
Wednesday 3 June 2026 if you want the Tarasca version. Thursday 4 June 2026 if you prefer the procession version. In both cases, the fairground is best from late afternoon onward.
