Where It Happens
The traditional Corpus takes place around the Cathedral, Plaza del Carmen, Plaza Bib-Rambla, Puerta Real and Carrera de la Virgen. This is where you will find the Tarasca, the procession, altars, carocas, children's activities and street culture.
The fairground is in Almanjáyar, in northern Granada. In 2026 the official map includes 72 casetas: 7 institutional, 3 commercial and 62 traditional, plus churros and bar plots. The streets of the fairground include La Zambra, El Vito, La Caña, Maimones, La Reja, Verdiales and Martinetes. Family Plans
Plaza Bib-Rambla is the easiest family base, with eco-carousels, workshops, inflatables and educational activities. The Puppet Festival also runs through the week. With small children, plan the historic centre in the morning and the fairground in the early evening. Quiet Fair Day on 1 and 2 June is the best option for children sensitive to noise.
Getting to the Fairground
Avoid driving. The fairground gets busy and leaving late at night can be slow. Local bus services to the fairground cost around 2€ per journey, according to GranadaDirect. The metro is also useful, with Jaén as the reference stop for the fairground, but local media reported partial strikes during Corpus 2026, so check live service before relying on it.
Local Tips
- For the Tarasca, be in the centre before 11:15.
- For the Thursday procession, choose a spot near the Cathedral, Gran Vía or the traditional route early.
- Go to the fairground at sunset for a calmer dinner; go late if you want the strongest atmosphere.
- Have tapas in Realejo, Navas, Pescadería or Plaza de la Romanilla before heading north.
- Do not try to combine the Alhambra, Tarasca, Cathedral, fairground and tapas in one compressed day.

History and Photos
Granada's Corpus has more than 500 years of history. The 2026 municipal programme refers to 1501 and Queen Isabella as the symbolic beginning of a celebration that became the city's main festival. The week combines solemnity, street humour, religious heritage, fairground culture and family life.
The best photo spots are the fairground gate on opening night, Plaza del Carmen for the Tarasca, Plaza Bib-Rambla for carocas and children's activities, the Cathedral for the procession, Carrera de la Virgen for the pottery fair and the Palacio de Congresos area for fireworks.
Food
Expect fried fish, Sacromonte-style dishes in traditional casetas, ham, cheese, montaditos, churros late at night and cold beer or rebujito. For better tapas before the fairground, use our free tapas in Granada guide.
