About the Event
Quincentenary exhibition at the Hospital Real crossing (9 Oct 2026 – 17 Jan 2027). Hours: Mon–Sat 11:00–14:00 and 17:30–19:30; closed Sundays and public holidays. Free until capacity. Public opening confirmed on 9 October (not the 8th).
The University of Granada presents "Granada. Imperial Capital: 1526. Isabella of Portugal and Charles of Habsburg in Granada" at the Hospital Real crossing (Avenida del Hospicio, s/n), from 9 October 2026 to 17 January 2027. It is one of two complementary quincentenary exhibitions; the other, "The royal palaces of the Alhambra", has its own listing and hours at the Palace of Charles V.
The display is arranged in five areas: Granada in 1526; Charles V's universities; the monarchs in Granada; Renaissance eagles; and transatlantic routes and territories. It explains the political, cultural and university changes the city underwent during the imperial stay.
Hours: Monday to Saturday 11:00–14:00 and 17:30–19:30. Closed Sundays and public holidays. Free entry until capacity is reached. The public opening is on 9 October 2026 (8 October dates on aggregators usually reflect announcements or setup, not the UGR-confirmed visit start).
Visiting this room does not replace a timed Nasrid Palaces ticket or a full Alhambra circuit. For 1526 historical context and the walking route, see GRN URBAN's Charles V in Granada guide.

Do not confuse this venue with the Palace of Charles V exhibition: they are separate listings with different hours. The Hospital Real is in the centre; the Alhambra requires separate access. Arrive early at weekends because of capacity limits.
