About the Event
Ríos (Cruzar el Archivo Lorca) at Centro Federico García Lorca explores the poet’s relationship with water: 200+ documents — manuscripts, photos, letters — plus work by contemporary artists, 24 April–18 October 2026.
Ríos (Cruzar el Archivo Lorca) opens at Centro Federico García Lorca on 24 April 2026 as a centrepiece of programming for the 90th anniversary of the poet’s murder. Curated by Francisco Ramallo, the exhibition maps Lorca’s relationship with water — rivers, springs, seas, irrigation channels — in six sections that unfold the archive like a water diary.
More than 200 documents (manuscripts, photographs, paintings, letters) follow the liquid traces of Lorca’s work through Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, New York, Havana, Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The show is not a static archive: contemporary artists including Lucía Bayón, Javi Cruz-Andrés Izquierdo, Carlos Irijalba, Alex Reynolds and María Salgado contribute sculptures, photographs, drawings and texts in dialogue with the documents.
Free entry until capacity. It suits those who know Lorca and want a new — more sensory, spatial — reading of the archive, and visitors seeking the “water murmur” running through his poetry and theatre from the Granada plain.
