Quick answer: Granada spreads its festival calendar across three clear windows. The first is Corpus week, in late May or June. The second is summer, with the International Festival of Music and Dance and the rest of the summer programme. The third is autumn: a musical September and an October–November in which cinema, comics, flamenco, sacred music and jazz overlap, before the magic and performing-arts close in November.
This page does not replace each festival's own guide. It is the index: it tells you when each date falls in the year, where it happens and what to read next. Concrete dates and line-ups are in each festival's guide and in the cultural agenda.
How to read this calendar
Granada does not have a single "festival season". It has three, separated by the weather and by the city's cultural year. Understanding that rhythm is more useful than chasing an endless list of names: spring belongs to tradition, summer to classical music and the performing arts, and autumn concentrates almost all of the city's contemporary programme.
Four criteria keep this index reliable:
- Annual continuity: we include dates that repeat every year, not one-off events or single commemorations.
- A known venue in Granada: each festival happens in an identifiable venue or area of the city or its province.
- Verifiable information: a public official or institutional source confirms what it is and when it runs.
- Useful for visitors: the date is relevant enough to organise a trip around.
Dates change every year. Editions are announced months in advance, and some festivals move with the calendar (Corpus, for example, depends on Easter). That is why we give each date's season and, when already confirmed, the 2026 edition as a reference. For the following year, always check the festival's guide and the agenda before booking.

Music and performing arts
Music anchors Granada's calendar, with dates in summer, September, October and November. They are not all the same kind of event, nor for the same audience.
Granada International Festival of Music and Dance (FEX)
This is the city's flagship festival and the oldest, most ambitious date of the year. It sits in the heart of summer, with concerts and shows spanning classical music, dance, flamenco and jazz across the Palace of Charles V, the Generalife Theatre and city venues. The 2026 edition, the 75th, ran from 11 June to 12 July; next edition's dates are published on the festival's official site.
Granada International Jazz Festival
Jazz arrives at the end of autumn, from late October into the first week of November, with the Teatro Isabel la Católica as its main venue and a parallel cycle across other city spaces. The 46th edition (2026) published a programme with five concerts at the theatre and an "Other spaces" cycle. Programme, times and tickets are in the Granada Jazz Festival guide and on the official site.
Granada Fusión
An October cultural festival that crosses styles and generations: classical music, flamenco, rock, song, poetry and stage work. It has no single venue; every session changes location. The 2026 edition split sixteen performances across three weekends.
Granada Sound and Muac Fest
September concentrates the city's two big open-air music festivals, both at the Cortijo del Conde. Granada Sound is the multi-stage pop and rock festival; Muac Fest is the electronic and pop date with a full-day format. They share a site but not an audience or a line-up.
MUSAG — Granada Sacred Music Festival
Throughout October, MUSAG brings historical and contemporary sacred repertoire to churches, monasteries, auditoriums and archaeological sites across the city and province. It has no fixed venue: each concert is announced with its place and time in the official programme. Available sessions are linked in the agenda.
Granada es Flamenco 365
Flamenco has its own date within the Bienal de Granada, in September, with nights in the Generalife gardens and activities across the Albaicín and Sacromonte. Outside those dates, flamenco still runs all year: we explain it in the flamenco in Granada guide.
Hocus Pocus
The calendar closes in November with Hocus Pocus, a magic and performing-arts festival that pairs large-format galas at the Teatro Isabel la Católica with close-up sessions and shows at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla and other spaces.
Film and comics
October is not only music. Two long-running events turn the city into a meeting point for cinema and comics.
Granada Film Fest — Jóvenes Realizadores
Granada's film festival, focused on short films and on people starting out. It runs in October, with screenings at the Centro Federico García Lorca, the Teatro Isabel la Católica and Gabia. Dates for the 32nd edition (2026): 18–24 October. Full detail is in its Granada Film Fest guide.
Granada International Comic Fair
The Comic Fair takes over the area around Fuente de las Batallas and Carrera de la Virgen for an October weekend, with authors, signings and exhibitions. Dates for the 32nd edition (2026): 16–18 October; the programme is in the Comic Fair guide.
Corpus: fiesta and tradition
Corpus Christi week is the oldest and most popular celebration in the Granada calendar. It falls in late May or June, according to the liturgical calendar, and combines three different things: the procession and religious events in the centre, the Tarasca with giants and big-heads, the satirical Carocas in Plaza Bib-Rambla, and the Corpus Fair, with its casetas fairground at Almanjáyar.
It is more a tradition than a music festival, but it works as the great opening of the festive year. To understand each piece separately:
- Corpus Christi in Granada — the full week, the procession and the main day.
- The Tarasca — what it is, its route and where to watch it.
- The Carocas — the satirical quintillas of Bib-Rambla.
- The Corpus Fair — the Almanjáyar fairground and how to get there.
To locate the city-centre celebrations and plan your walk, check routes and times in the Granada Corpus guide.
Where festivals happen: venues and areas
Granada's festivals are not staged in out-of-town concert parks: they are spread across the city. These are the venues and areas that recur most.
- Teatro Isabel la Católica (Acera del Casino, centre): jazz, Granada Fusión and Hocus Pocus galas.
- Auditorio Manuel de Falla (beside the Alhambra): Hocus Pocus and MUSAG sacred-music sessions.
- Generalife Theatre and Palace of Charles V (Alhambra precinct): the FEX and Granada es Flamenco 365 nights.
- Cortijo del Conde (outside the centre): open-air site for Granada Sound and Muac Fest.
- Centro Federico García Lorca (Plaza de la Romanilla): Jóvenes Realizadores film and Hocus Pocus sessions.
- Fuente de las Batallas and Carrera de la Virgen (south-centre): Comic Fair.
- Almanjáyar (north): casetas fairground of the Corpus Fair.
To place each venue on the map and choose where to stay around the concerts, cross this page with the where to stay guide and the venue pages in the venues directory.
Planning your trip around a festival
A festival changes how you plan Granada entirely: it tightens and raises accommodation, concentrates traffic in the centre, and makes booking the Alhambra in advance essential if you want to combine it.
- Book before improvising. The travelling to Granada guide orders what to close first: tickets, accommodation and driving access.
- Choose your area by venue. The accommodation guide by neighbourhood compares centre, Realejo, Albaicín and modern districts.
- Driving? Plan parking. The centre has restrictions and a low-emission zone: use the parking guide.
- Pair festival and city. The what to see in Granada priorities and the monumental route fit between concerts.
- Check the agenda the day before. Times and doors change: always confirm in the agenda and on the festival's source.
Province festivals (and why they are not all here)
The province of Granada also programmes festivals: flamenco cycles in the Vega, music festivals on the Costa Tropical and in the Altiplano, and summer dates in towns and villages. There are many, and many change date and venue each year, so this index does not try to list them all: that would be a list that ages badly and that you cannot use to plan.
What we do is link them in the Granada agenda as they are announced, with their date, municipality and source. If you are after a day trip outside the city, start with the agenda and the selection by time available.
What this guide does not cover
To avoid confusion and avoid repeating what is already published, this page stays at the level of the calendar and orientation. It does not include:
- Full line-ups or casts. Each festival has its own guide with the verified detail.
- Prices per concert or session. Those are on the event page or the official sale.
- Dates for editions not yet announced. If the organiser has not published them, they are not here.
- One-off events. Single commemorations and isolated premieres live in the agenda, not in this calendar.
FAQ
When is the best time to visit Granada for a festival?
It depends on the type. For classical music and dance, summer (June–July). For a weekend of open-air festivals, September. For the biggest concentration of film, comics, flamenco and jazz, October–November. Corpus week, in late May or June, is the tradition date.
Do I need a car for the festivals?
For those held in the centre or at the Alhambra, no: almost everything is reachable on foot or by public transport. The exception is the Cortijo del Conde, outside the centre, which the September festivals serve with shuttle buses from points such as Neptuno. Always confirm the service in the guide or the festival's site.
How many days should I book?
For a weekend festival, two nights are enough. For jazz or the FEX, two or three nights let you combine more than one concert with the city without rushing.
Are the individual festival guides updated?
Yes. Each guide carries a verification date and is reviewed before every edition. This index page is updated at the same time to keep seasons and venues current.
