Dates and what the festival is

The 32nd edition of Jóvenes Realizadores — Granada Film Fest runs from 18 to 24 October 2026. Centro Federico García Lorca presents it as a festival devoted to discovering new film talent and a selection of emerging short films. It is organised by Granada City Council, the Culture and Education department of Granada Provincial Council, and Fundación Agua Granada.

The competition awards the Premio Val del Omar for best film, in the tradition of the Granada filmmaker José Val del Omar. The centre’s listing describes a meeting place for creators, industry professionals and Granada audiences, plus work that crosses cinema with other disciplines. It is not one room or one screening: each activity can change venue.

Main venues

The centre names three main venues:

  • Teatro Isabel la Católica, in the centre. Venue page: Teatro Isabel la Católica.
  • Palacio de los Condes de Gabia. The official listing calls it Palacio Condes de Gabia.
  • Centro Federico García Lorca, Plaza de la Romanilla, s/n, 18001 Granada. The opening and the Vibraciones Competition are announced there. Building context: Lorca in Granada.

Other programme spaces, on the same listing: Espacio V Centenario, the Faculty of Communication and Documentation and the Filmoteca de Andalucía. That page does not assign a time or a title to each of those spaces. Confirm the venue of the specific activity before you travel.

Competition sections

The official section is split into three competitions:

  • International Competition.
  • Aguaespejo Competition.
  • Vibraciones Competition, focused on emerging Andalusian cinema and the Andalusian short film. Fundación SGAE promotes it and awards best direction, screenplay and score. It takes place at Centro Federico García Lorca.

The centre’s listing says these sections share more than €5,000 in prizes. It also announces Special Sessions mixing cinema, music and other languages, without detailing each one on that page.

Tribute to Celia Rico and the opening

The edition pays tribute to director Celia Rico and includes a performance by Restinga in the opening. Restinga is the musical project of Hispano-Moroccan artist Herminia Loh Moreno, not a film title. Centro Federico García Lorca places the opening and the Vibraciones Competition at its own building.

That listing does not publish a start time, so the opening has no confirmed hour. Its page is Opening: Celia Rico and Restinga.

Tickets and how to attend

Centro Federico García Lorca publishes “€10 in advance” for its festival activity. That figure is what the centre states on its own listing. It is not the price of the whole festival or of every screening at the other venues. The listing gives no fare for the Teatro Isabel la Católica, the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia, Espacio V Centenario, the Faculty of Communication and Documentation or the Filmoteca de Andalucía.

To attend, find the venue of the session first and buy or reserve through that venue’s channel. The centre is on Plaza de la Romanilla. The Isabel la Católica is a short walk from the historic centre. The source used for this guide does not publish a single festival pass.

Individual sessions

The Centro Federico García Lorca listing does not include a session programme with time, title and venue for each competition screening. Without that complete data, each screening cannot be detailed.

The catalogue already holds two Filmoteca de Andalucía screenings that the Andalusian Cultural Agenda attributes to the festival. Both are part of Jóvenes Realizadores and are linked below.

Filmoteca sessions already in the catalogue
DateSessionVenueTime
Wednesday 21 October 2026 Los pequeños amores, Celia Rico, Spain, 2024 Filmoteca de Andalucía in Granada, Sala Val del Omar 20:00
Friday 23 October 2026 Viaje al cuarto de una madre, Celia Rico, Spain, 2018 Filmoteca de Andalucía in Granada, Sala Val del Omar 20:00

Those two sessions are a Filmoteca collaboration with the festival. Other Filmoteca screenings already on the calendar — for example the Mujeres de cine series — are not attributed to Jóvenes Realizadores here. If a competition grid is published later with time and venue, check it on the official source before treating it as final.

Where to check the official source

Dates, venues, sections, the tribute, Restinga and the centre’s price come from the Centro Federico García Lorca listing: Granada Film Fest — Jóvenes Realizadores. The two Filmoteca sessions above come from the Andalusian Cultural Agenda, not from that listing.

If the organiser later publishes a full programme, each screening’s time and price override this page. The October calendar is at October 2026 events.

Other cultural plans to combine in Granada

The main venues are central, so a screening fits a short walk. For the Lorca Centre, use the Lorca in Granada guide and the walking route.

The Charles V quincentenary exhibitions stay open through these October weeks. The International Jazz Festival starts on 27 October, just after this edition. On a wet day, the rainy-day guide gathers museums and indoor centres. To plan the rest of the city: what to see in Granada and the cultural calendar.
